Notes: Academics has been steadily rising each year along with the competitiveness of admission qualifications. Fordham professor range from the average professors, who are there to read off textbooks, and there are professors, who are at top of their chosen industries and really push their students to learn. It's all about who you decided to take and if you are up to the challenge.
Fordham used to be a commuter-heavy school until the recently built dorm buildings brought more resident students. Still majority of the students are from the tri-state area, so students tend to go back home on weekends. There are plans for two more dorm building to be built in the next 2-3 years. The dorm laundry system is paid for by the Bronx Botanical Gardens (literally across the street from the Main Campus Entrance), so there is no need to bring quarters from home.
The food is catered by Sodexho, which the main cafeteria is buffet-styled. The main cafteria was recently renovated and there are various events/surveys throughout the year to improve the quality of the food served.
Fordham does not have any social fraternities/sororities due to the Jesuit tradition. Only academic fraternities are availble to both genders.
The local bars are mostly huddled together around Arthur Ave (1-2 blocks away from campus). Some students prefer to party in Manhattan, which is only a subway / Metro North / Ramvan ride away.
End note - Fordham is very dynamic and is constantly improving each year. Each incoming class brings a different feel to the campus (to the point that there is a chance that my ratings are no longer valid). Father McShane really does a splendid job of pushing the University in the right direction.
