"Good for Business and Engineering"

In terms of its academic programs, Clemson is strongest in Business and Engineering. Although it is not ranked nearly as high as schools such as UVA, it does have an excellent reputation with employers, particularly those in South Carolina, although students looking for work in areas of the country other than the South may find that Clemson has more of a regional than a national reputation. The honors program also offers top students a more intensive academic experience: many admitted applicants boast GPAs of 3.7 and above as well as SATs of 1350+ (counting Critical Reading and Math only). Clemson also awards a significant amount of merit aid, and while this is not limited to students in the honors program, most honors students do receive some form of a scholarship. For students not selected for the honors program as freshmen, it is possible to transfer in for sophomore year. Despite Clemson’s reputation as a party school, there are plenty of things to do both on and off campus, and students say that just about anyone can be happy there.Ratings

"Students at Clemson are happy "

Students at Clemson are drawn to the university by its friendly atmosphere, its school spirit, and, of course, its warm weather. Although lower level classes routinely enroll 100+ students, more advanced classes tend to have fewer than 30, leading to increased contact between professors and students. Out of state students may initially feel somewhat strange since many of Clemson’s students are from South Carolina and have attended high school together, but it’s easy to get involved, and students are generally very welcoming. Northern students who attend Clemson should rest assured that culture shock isn’t much of an issue: there are many students from Northern states who attend Clemson and who enjoy the relatively laid back lifestyle and excellent balance between academics and athletics. Dorms are reputed to be well-kept, but a very high percentage of students eventually choose to move off campus. Overall, however, Clemson is striking for the number of students who are genuinely happy to be there.Ratings

Located in Clemson, South Carolina, Clemson University combines strong programs in the sciences and engineering with exceptional athletics. Students have to traditionally come to Clemson to play as hard as they work, but the university’s administration is trying hard to boost Clemson’s academic reputation and ranking, with the goal of making it one of the top 20 public universities in the country of the next two years. More than 17,000 students enroll at five schools and can choose from close to 200 programs of study at the undergraduate and graduate levels. With a 14:1 student to faculty ratio, Clemson is comparable to some private schools such as Boston University, and average class size is around 30; however, Clemson students are better known for their intense devotion to their athletic teams rather than their studies. That said, more than 50% of enrolling freshman rank in the top 10% of their class. About a quarter of student come from out of state, mostly from the South, and the international student population includes students from nearly 90 countries.Ratings
