  • "ASU: America’s Largest Public University"

    Arizona State University (Tempe, Arizona)

Arizona State University is the largest public university in the United States. There are almost 70,000 students! Of those students, just over 50,000 are undergraduates, while graduate students account for around 14,000. The university, which is spread across four campuses in the Phoenix area, is home to the widely popular Sun Devils, which all college sports fans are sure to recognize.
The university’s size allows it to offer a diverse array of programs to undergraduate students (over 250, actually). With programs in areas as different as Parks, Recreation and Leisure Studies to International Business, Trade and Commerce, you are sure to be able to find major and minor areas of study to pursue your academic interests.
Because the university is so large, it has an acceptance rate of around 95%. While some say that such a rate diminishes the university’s reputation, it means that more students have access to the university, creating a greater space for scholarship and advancement for everyone involved.

  • "Big School: Pros and Cons"

    Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio)

    Review

Ohio State University is one of the original land-grant universities in America, which means that it is, to put it simply, a really big school. It is, in fact, the biggest single-campus university in the US and is home to almost 40,000 undergraduate students and over 13,000 post-graduate students. Resting on almost 1,800 acres, it is no small wonder that this school is huge.
And with its size comes some drawbacks. Cultivating a real sense of community around 50,000 other students is sometimes difficult. Faculty are spread pretty thin, having to work with all of the students, making the student to faculty ratio around 13:1 (which, while not great, really is not bad at all given the size of the university).
But, the large size of the university also has its perks. For example, there are over 800 registered campus organizations. From glee club to tech club to language groups, there is sure to be a group that students can be a part of. Additionally, there are a number of student service programs that have opened up on campus to ensure that nobody falls through the cracks.

  • "Big Research, Growing Reputation"

University of Minnesota - Twin Cities (Minneapolis, Minnesota)

University of Minnesota, or U of M, is the fourth largest university in the United States—there are over 50,000 students there! Of those students, almost 30,000 are undergraduates studying in a number of different fields. Some students study agriculture in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resources, some are studying in the College of Education and Human Development, and yet others in the College of Liberal Arts or one of the thirteen other colleges at the university.
The school has a strong reputation as a public research university, but the university has also recently pledged to enhance its reputation within the next ten years. It remains to be seen if that will happen, but the university and its students are hopeful! As one of the original land-grant universities, U of M has a rich history as a public institution, and everyone inside is looking forward to continued development of that reputation.

The university has been ranked among the top 20 best business schools in the world by The Wall Street Journal international rankings, especially thanks to its M.B.A. program, which in 2007 placed it no. 17 in the world in terms of graduate recruitment preference by major multinational companies [1]. Forbes has ranked Bocconi no.1 worldwide in the specific category Value for Money [2]. In May 2008, Bocconi overtook several traditionally top global business schools in the Financial Times Executive education ranking, reaching no. 5 in Europe and no. 15 in the world [3].

Drew used to be one of the best party schools in NJ when I went there. I visited last year and the campus was dead quiet.

No more eccentric smart kids partying like crazy.

    Anyone know the deal?
